Work Schedule: 9:00am–7:00pm Saturday/Sunday and 11:00am-9:00pm Friday/Monday - 40 hrs.
Reporting Relationship: Manager Residential Services
Primary Accountabilities:
The primary function of the Lead Staff is to support the mission, vision and values of Easterseals Capper Foundation by exhibiting the following behaviors: ability and commitment to identify strengths, genuine respect for diverse perspectives and life styles, a capacity to listen and reflect, skill and creativity to help people become more aware and confident of their own abilities, help individuals and/or groups assume decision-making and action, knowledge of resources to access information and ability to reflect and criticize ongoing process, including one’s own role in those processes.
Major Duties:
  • Responds appropriately to the needs, desires and interests of the persons supported.
  • Supports staff in the completion of assigned tasks.
  • Matches specific supports and interventions to the unique needs of individuals supported.
  • Understands crisis intervention and resolution techniques and use such techniques as identified for persons supported. Guides Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in using approved techniques.
  • Identifies and understands Medication Administration Sheets (MAR).
  • Checks medications against the MAR and ensures appropriate medications have been administered.
  • Provides a written report to residential supervisors and management staff at the conclusion of each shift.
  • Supports the mission and practices of Easterseals Capper Foundation and participates in organizational activities.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Required to read, write and speak fluent English
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in health and/or human services field
  • Must be able to pass background checks and drug test per agency procedures
  • Must have a valid Kansas Drivers License with an acceptable driving record.
Training Requirements:
  • Must complete orientation training and maintain training certification based on agency procedures
Physical Demands:
  • May be required to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Walking, bending, squatting, reaching and moving during a majority of the shift
  • May involve sitting for brief periods of time
Work Environment:
  • Direct contact with individuals who are severely physically and/or developmentally disabled and who may exhibit unpredictable behavior and uncontrollable outbursts. The physical characteristics of the work environment are such that noise and odor control procedures are required. May work with individuals with Hepatitis B and/or other blood borne pathogens.
