The City of Louisburg is hiring a Public Works Supervisor. In this position, the Supervisor will oversee and direct Public Works department employees and provide public services for the City to include water, wastewater, gas, streets, parks and public properties. This is a full-time position that will report to the Public Works Director.

The employee should possess strong technical and mental aptitude, and have effective communication, organizational and public relations skills. The employee must reside within a 25-minute drive time to Louisburg.

Required duties and qualifications include:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required. A technical degree or some college credit is preferred.
  • Six (6) to nine (9) years of similar or related experience is preferred.
  • Possess a minimum of a Class II Water Certification and Class II Wastewater Certification, complete natural gas OQ training through contracted gas system operations contractor or some other training program.
  • Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well within one (1) year of employment.
  • Working knowledge of gas leak detection equipment, carbon monoxide detection
  • equipment, mechanics, and mathematics is required.
  • This employee will operate trucks, mowers, snowplows, sand spreaders, backhoes, sewer rodders, loaders, and other department equipment.
  • Manual labor, including lifting heavy objects and the ability to operate heavy machinery is required.
  • Must possess the ability to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to one hundred (100) pounds.
  • Use of computers and other technology, prepare report and other documents, interpret data and instructions, communicate well in multiple forms, and ability to work well with the public, co-workers, and subordinate personnel.

Background check and drug/alcohol screening required. Must have a valid driver's license and maintain an insurable driving record.

This is a salaried position with compensation from $35-39 per hour equivalent, dependent on qualifications.
