Primary Accountability:
The Graphics and Marketing Specialist is responsible for graphic design and production of print materials, digital banners, special campaigns, design of direct mail, and other collateral material. This position is a key contributor to Washburn University Alumni Association and Foundation’s Marketing, Communications and Stewardship team, but provides support to all departments across the organization.
The Graphics and Marketing Specialist will be responsible for implementing the Alumni Association and Foundation’s graphic standards and designing and producing a wide variety of materials as well as all event marketing materials. The individual will work closely with all departments at the Alumni Association and Foundation as well as the Washburn University Public Relations team to ensure maintenance of brand standards and consistency.
Internal relations include regular contact with the Foundation staff, Alumni Association, and the School of Law Alumni Association. External relationships include contact with campus partners and with outside vendors to coordinate printing.
The Graphics and Marketing Specialist will establish and nurture effective, collegial working relationships with co-workers and University partners representing the Foundation in a positive and professional manner.

Major Duties:
- Implements and monitors brand standards on all materials;
- Develops concepts, produces, and coordinates approval for all print invitations for Alumni Association and Foundation and School of Law Alumni Association events;
- Develops concepts and produces graphics and other event materials with campus partners on an as-needed basis;
- Manages and executes all necessary graphics for digital event marketing initiatives, including: events, email campaigns, and social media;
- Collaborates with internal teams to create publications such as the Ichabod, Bell Tower, and Lawyer magazines and other marketing collateral for Alumni Association and Foundation initiatives;
- Manages event marketing calendar for print, digital, and social event marketing tactics;
- Works with outside vendors as necessary for printing, production, and mailing;
- Serves as the main contact for print and digital graphics;
- Ensures that all brand identity markings registered and trademarked to Washburn University are handled in accordance with university brand standards and meet University Relations approvals;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Experience in graphic design for marketing, communications, public relations, or other related discipline required;
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and InDesign required;
- Ability to take initiative to coordinate processes and solve problems required;
- Writing and editing experience preferred;
- Higher education experience and knowledge of Washburn University and its programs preferred;
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills required;
- Knowledge of print processes required;
- Ability to think creatively and strategically;
- Strong organizational and project management skills;
- Professional attitude and ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Reliable and predictable attendance.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time;
- Ability to read computer screens and mail.
- Professional and deadline-oriented environment in an office setting; and
- Interaction with staff and campus partners.
