Reporting Relationship: Vice President (“VP”) Resource Development
Primary Accountabilities:
The Manager of Member Relations (“Manager”) is responsible for developing and implementing programs, projects and activities designed to increase and retain membership at the Greater Topeka Partnership (“GTP”). The targets, goals, and benefits stated in the attached Addendum A have been determined based on business objectives of the GTP and may be adjusted periodically. This Addendum remains in effect unless and until amended or cancelled by the GTP.
Major Duties:                      
  • Drives revenue generation through membership sales and retention.
  • Actively develops and identifies prospective companies who are good candidates for membership with the GTP.
  • Maintains membership dues in accordance with the Membership Plan.
  • Shares with prospects the benefits of membership and value proposition of the GTP.
  • Actively participates with the on-boarding process of new members recruited.
  • Maintains contacts with members sold by the Manager to ensure needs are being addressed and the opportunity for renewal is increased.
  • Meets and exceeds performance goals and objectives, as indicated in Addendum A.
  • Completes weekly sales report (Addendum B) analyzing sales efforts and presents to VP Resource Development.
  • Travels to current and prospective member locations to ensure total client satisfaction and to increase GTP visibility through direct sales, cold calling and business-to-business marketing visits.
  • Maintains accurate records of current membership and prospective members.
  • Creates and presents membership reports to the Board of Managers.
  • Addresses delinquent accounts promptly.
  • Participates in special events with the GTP and within the community.
  • Reviews all membership invoices and statements before mailing.
  • Attends member ribbon cuttings and events.
  • Schedules and coordinates all committee and task force meetings in the membership area.
  • Monitors membership retention and develops strategies to address member attrition problems.
  • Interacts with prospects to determine satisfaction levels with GTP’s services and suggests new services and programs to increase satisfaction levels.
  • Develops and ensures established procedures for processing prospective GTP member’s applications are consistently followed.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the GTP membership and the benefits each provides a business.
  • Participates in various GTP meetings, events and activities.
  • Works with VP’s of Resource Development, Brand Strategy, and Communications teams to strengthen member retention.
  • Always represents the GTP professionally and positively.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Five (5) years sales and/or membership experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Ability to demonstrate high level customer service and hospitality best practices.
  • Valid driver’s license required for moderate local travel (50%) to various client and business-related locations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Topeka and Shawnee County business community required.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong computer and word-processing skills, including CRM software, Word, Excel and Access.  Experience with In Design desired.
  • Ability to work both independently and in team settings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with staff, the business community and business prospects.
  • Ability to work efficiently with attention to details and quality of work produced.
  • Ability to work with myriad personality types in a congenial and respectful manner.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in setting priorities and organization of work load.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively with attention to details and quality.
  • Demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations.
  • Must have a reliable mode of transportation and the ability to run errands during work hours (mileage reimbursement provided).
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to read computer screens and mail, email, talk on the phone.
  • Ability to unpack and move supplies up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and attend events as required.
  • Resident of Shawnee County
Work Environment:
