Primary Accountabilities:
The Student Account Coordinator assists the Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) in the transaction process, report generation and accounting procedures related to the management of student accounts.

Major Duties:
  • Accurately handles and provides receipt for all student and customer payments.
  • Assists CFO in generation of tuition and fee charges to student accounts.
  • Generates and processes student statements on a monthly basis.
  • Maintains third party sponsor records and serves as a liaison with various sponsoring agencies.
  • Monitors accounts receivable balances monthly.
  • Works with students to establish tuition and fee payment plans.
  • Performs collection activities, including in-house activities and recordkeeping for third party agencies.
  • Verifies daily receipts for accuracy, reconciles end of day and prepares deposits for transfer to bank.
  • Prepares grant related invoices as required.
  • Conducts a student account presentation at program orientations.
  • Prepares sales tax returns.
  • Collaborates with Assistant Director of Financial Aid on student concerns and inquiries.
  • Works effectively with all Manhattan Area Technical College personnel.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Diploma or certificate in related field and/or minimum of two (2) years’ related experience.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience.
  • Demonstrated cash handling experience.
  • Ability to analyze situations within policy and legal frameworks.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
  • Willingness to make decisions as necessary and appropriate in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong computer and word processing skills, in particular experience with database systems and computer applications, specifically Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally through both verbal and written skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including public speaking and ability to present the college in a positive way.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to organize, multi-task, plan and set priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment with a strong attention to detail in setting priorities and organization of work load.
  • Demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations.


Physical Demands:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to read computer screens and mail, email, and talk on the phone.
  • Ability to unpack and move supplies up to twenty-five (25) lbs.


Work Environment:
  • Professional and deadline-oriented environment in an educational setting.
  • Interaction with students, staff and guests.
