Job Classification: Non-Exempt, Part-Time
Work Schedule: Twenty (20) hours per week, Monday – Friday 10am to 2pm, occasional early mornings, evenings or Saturday may be requested
Reporting Relationship: Vice President of Development
 
Primary Accountabilities:
The Volunteer Coordinator impacts all areas of the organization by creating an environment for volunteers to use their time and talent to assist staff in carrying out the mission of the Easterseals Capper Foundation (“ESCF”).
 
Major Duties:
  • Works directly with the Vice President of Development to coordinate all volunteer services for all programs which include recruiting, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating volunteer performance. Provides training and supervision of recreation, administrative, and support volunteers.
  • Oversees volunteer retention and recognition and networks with other community agencies to assist with volunteer recruitment and retention.
  • Coordinates and schedules the Ability Awareness Workshops for internal and external groups, and maintains and adjusts the materials and equipment, as needed.
  • Assists with development & marketing activities including special events, as needed, working with the events Community Engagement Manager to recruit special events volunteers.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Previous work experience or college course work in Communications, Human Services, English or Marketing is preferred.
  • Previous volunteer experience and knowledge of the role of volunteers within a not-for-profit human services organization.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat is preferred.
  • Read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills which includes public speaking.
  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to provide excellent, professional customer service.
  • Must be able to pass background checks and drug test per agency procedures.
 
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent bending, standing or sitting.
  • Ability to read computer screens for an extended period.
  • Ability to lift up to thirty (30) pounds.
