Position: Vice President of Human Resources

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for the Human Resources department within the Cooperative.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the successful implementation of Human Resources department strategies and programs to ensure that they are aligned with the strategic goals of the Cooperative.
  • Work with the Human Resources department to continue to develop and implement effective employee guidelines and procedures for all employees.
  • Provide strong leadership support for the Human Resources department to ensure that they cohesively work together to maximize employee opportunities for personal and professional development.
  • Provide high-level advice to the General Counsel regarding Human Resources and implementation of agreed management decisions.
  • Manage specific projects, and engage in other relevant duties as may be requested by the General Counsel.
  • Perform all work with integrity, high ethical standards, and a strong work ethic.
  • Identify continuous quality improvement opportunities in Human Resources.
  • Establish work priorities and activities.
  • Develop and review operating procedures for all components of Human Resources.
  • Implement corporate and departmental policies, procedures and service standards in conjunction with other managers.
  • Coordinate departmental activities in conjunction with other departments and ensure departmental activities are planned and prioritized.
  • Provide employee guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
  • Interpret and communicate work procedures and company policies to employees.
  • Develop and manage budgets.
  • Present a positive image as a representative of the Cooperative.
  • Maintain the security of confidential information.
  • Stay abreast of advances in technology. 

Supervisory and/or Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling of employees, and any recommendations for termination.
  • Oversee the professional development of employees and monitor performance and effectiveness and undertake staff appraisals.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate employees. 
  • Preparation of all performance reports on Human Resources. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of business and management principles including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data or processing information.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.
  • Skilled in evaluating complex issues and making decisive judgments in the best interest of the Cooperative.
  • Skilled in anticipating, identifying, analyzing and resolving conflicts and problems.
  • Skilled in prioritizing and managing changing priorities.
  • Skilled in monitoring and managing performance.
  • Skilled in time management.
  • Skilled in establishing and communicating performance expectations and metrics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; high level communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and motivation to take a leadership role in implementation and management of Corporate Services at the Cooperative.
  • Ability to listen and understand information verbally and in writing. 

Minimum Qualifications – (Education, Experience, Certification, & Licensure):
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field from an accredited US university or college.
  • Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of related Human Resources experience.
  • Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in leadership, managerial, or supervisory positions.
  • Human Resources Certification preferred or the ability to obtain certification within one (1) year of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Exempt employees receive a fixed bi-weekly salary to compensate them for all hours worked during each pay period.
