Location: Manhattan, KS Office
The Trust Company (“TTC”) provides financial advisory, investment and fiduciary management services for approximately 600 individuals and business clients. The Trust Company provides expertise in the following accounts: discretionary investment management accounts, estate and trust accounts, retirement plans, IRAs, 401(k), profit sharing and charitable foundations.

Primary Accountability:               
The primary responsibility of the Associate Portfolio Manager is to manage and assist the CIO in all mutual fund due diligence, monitoring, and reporting. The Associate Portfolio Manager works with the Investment Team in implementing clients’ investment strategy, managing appropriate cash balances, and identifying opportunities for rebalancing, portfolio improvement, or tax loss harvesting. A successful Associate Portfolio Manager must be highly organized, possess an immense level of detail and critical thinking ability, the desire to learn both during and outside of normal work hours, have a high degree of intellectual curiosity, and the ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines.

Major Duties:
  • Deep understanding of our investment philosophy, the funds we use, and the ability to communicate our story clearly and with confidence. 
  • Effectively communicates with clients, prospective clients and Trust Officers to explain portfolios and answer questions regarding investment philosophy and its implementation.
  • Implement investment strategy, monitor cash balances, cash flows, re-balancing and tax-loss harvesting opportunities for clients’ portfolios.
  • Proactively communicates with Client teams regarding investment activity and timely fund manager news. 
  • Assists in client meeting preparation by providing advisory teams with a list of action items, talking points, recap of any trading activity/portfolio changes etc.  
  • Prepares monthly reports for the Investment Committee and Client teams.
  • Maintains and reports on Investment Composites.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, or related field required.
  • One (1) to five (5) years’ demonstrated experience in financial services industry required.
  • Pursuing or the desire to pursue Chartered Financial Analyst (“CFA”), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (“CIMA”) and/or Chartered Alternative Investment Analysis (“CAIA”).
  • Knowledgeable with Morningstar products preferred.
  • Possesses a high degree of intellectual curiosity with the desire to learn both during and outside of normal work hours.
  • Extremely strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with an advanced knowledge in Excel.
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to manage time effectively and handle both internal and external conflicts.
  • Proven commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of The Trust Company.
  • Ability to effectively present information in various formats such as one-on-one or small groups.
  • Ability to work both independently and in team settings to show flexibility and versatility.
  • Ability to self-motivate with minimal supervision and thrive in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to work with strict confidentiality requirements, as well as utilize good judgment in the preparation and distribution of confidential information.

  • Ability to read computer screens, mail, e-mail and talk on the phone.
  • Ability to unpack and move supplies up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
