Kansas Electric Power Cooperative, Inc. ("KEPCo") is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Executive Director of Engineering.

Primary Accountabilities:
The primary objective of the Executive Director of Engineering is to manage the engineering functions and department within KEPCo, including the planning, organizing, budgeting, staffing, directing and controlling the design and technical support functions of KEPCo. This position also has primary responsibility for KEPCo Services Inc. (KSI), a KEPCo subsidiary that provides engineering and technical services for Member cooperatives and others.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university program and at least ten (10) years of work experience in the electric industry with an emphasis on utility design, engineering and operational activities.  A Professional Engineering (P.E.) license in the State of Kansas and a valid Kansas driver’s license are required.  Prior supervisory and/or management experience is highly desirable.

Position Specific:
  • Has extensive knowledge of electric utility engineering, including system design, protection, construction, operation and maintenance
  • Possesses a working knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code, as well as industry standards applicable to electric utility systems, equipment and operations
  • Is computer literate and able to operate business and engineering software
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Has had direct experience with Rural Utilities Service (RUS) regulations and bulletins
