Essential Functions:
The Executive Director is responsible for supervising and management of the daily operation of the 24-hour domestic violence, sexual assault services in Leavenworth County, Kansas. The Alliance Against Family Violence (AAFV) operates a 24-hour hotline and shelter facility, sexual assault response, as well as rural and community outreach throughout the county area. Management of these programs includes supervision of all employees, working with an active Board of Directors, fiscal and grants management and fundraising, as well as developing and maintaining community involvement with the organization. All services are victim-centered and confidential, as required by state and federal laws. AAFV is accredited by the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence, requiring state-level work. This is a highly responsible position that requires a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and instill trust in the organization’s programs and services. The successful candidate must demonstrate skills necessary to maintain current services as well as additional programming and services necessary to meet the needs of a growing and diverse community.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Administrative:
  • Prepare, track and monitor agency budgets
  • Solicit, manage, and submit reports on grants
  • Work with the Board of Directors to create and manage a sustainability, fundraising and development plan for the organization
  • Maintain an accurate but confidential statistical database regarding programming, as required by funders
  • Work closely and meet regularly with the Board of Directors, including preparing and presenting accurate and timely financial and programmatic reports
  • Monitor regulations regarding business requirements
Personnel:
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff and volunteers
  • Public Relations and Community Organizing:
  • Public speaking to civic and other groups
  • Develop and assist in delivering educational, prevention and public awareness campaigns
  • Work with other community organizations and stakeholders in the organization’s service area to create and support a coordinated community response to domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking
State Work:
  • Participate on the Program Council of the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence by attending quarterly meetings and serving on committees as needed
  • Close collaboration and coordination with other domestic violence and sexual assault programs in surrounding areas and across the state



Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree or extensive experience in the field of domestic violence or sexual assault services
  • Possess a clear understanding of domestic violence and sexual assault issues, victim-centered and empowerment based services
  • Grant writing and grants management experience
  • Comfort with a variety of computer applications relevant to office management and accounting
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality, especially in a rural setting
  • Must live within 20 miles of business office
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to speak Spanish or experience working with multi-lingual client base
  • Prior advocacy experience with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault



Physical Qualifications:
  • Ability to lift boxes weighing 20 lbs. with or without assistance
  • Ability to climb and descend stairs



Salary Range:
  • Negotiable depending on experience.
