Primary Accountability:
The Business Manager manages financial functions including accounting, budget preparation, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, grant reporting, business planning and cash management activities. The Business Manager coordinates telecommunications, computer operations and technical support.
Major Duties:
  • Maintain all financial records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Prepare, complete and analyze all accounting functions including daily reports, bank deposits, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable and other related activities
  • Implement and maintain appropriate internal financial control procedures
  • Prepare and monitor the annual budget in cooperation with the CEO
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and reports
  • Works with outside human resources firm to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Provides outside human resources firm information as requested.
  • File all necessary tax reports in regards to payroll
  • Assist CPA firm in performance of the annual audit and 990
  • Monitor cash flow and make appropriate bank account transfers
  • Work closely with the board and leadership team in regards to accounting issues and procedures.
  • Staff the finance committee, including analysis of financial position with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budget.
  • Research grant opportunities and draft grant proposals.
  • Acts as point of contact for computer issues and/or upgrades both internally and with vendors.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting required
  • Certified Public Accountant highly desired
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant accounting experience
  • Knowledge of tax related reporting requirements and computerized accounting software.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Strong computer and word processing skills, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with staff, clients, families, prospects and the public.
  • Ability to work efficiently with attention to details and quality of work produced.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in setting priorities and organization of work load.
  • Willingness to lead, take charge and offer opinions and direction.
  • Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to read computer screens and mail, talk on the phone.
