Primary Accountability:
The Personal Trainer conducts a physical fitness program under the guidance of the Fitness Director for members of the Topeka Country Club (“TCC”).
Major Duties:
  • Provides the Fitness Director with daily work schedule on a week-to-week basis.
  • Guides members through initial and progressive training sessions in the areas of flexibility, cardiovascular conditioning, and strength training.
  • Monitors fitness center, assists members with proper techniques, answers questions and provides information about health promotion and fitness.
  • Promotes sales of personal training.
  • Performs light cleaning duties to ensure the TCC facility looks presentable at all times.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • One (1) year of work-related experience or training is required.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Automated External Deliberator (AED) certificates are required.
  • National Personal Trainer Certification in one (1) or more of the following is also required:
    • ACSM
    • CSCC
    • NSCA
    • AAPTE
    • ACTION
    • ACE
    • NASM
    • NCCPT
    • NCSF
    • NESTA
    • Cooper
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Ability to wear work-appropriate fitness apparel.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, present information and respond to questions, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to analyze data or information by identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information and using logic to address work-related issues and problems.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and be able to handle a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to organize, multi-task, plan and set priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of TCC.
Physical Demands:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required such as close, distance, color, peripheral and depth vision as well as the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to frequently move supplies up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift weight consisting of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physical activities which require considerable use of arms, legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling various materials.
Work Environment:
  • Moderate to loud noise level.
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Interaction with TCC staff and members.
  • Regularly performing duties outside with various terrains.
  • Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Required to work weekends and odd/early/late hours, as necessary.
