Here is what you will do…
  1. Serves as a positive role model consistent with Polo’s corporate culture at all times.
  2. Manages project schedules and operates within specific deadlines and requirements.
  3. Uses computer design software for pattern making.
  4. Stays current on design software and make recommendations on upgrades.
  5. Originates and/or develops designs for products relating to defined customer needs or as possible proprietary items.
  6. Analyzes various design requirements and recommends possible solutions or alternate constructions.
  7. Uses customer’s requirements, samples, prints, etc., to estimate a products manufacturing cost.  This will include developing equitable standards and working with the excel quote form to achieve raw materials and labor costs.
  8. Works with the Quality Manager to establish test requirements, if not previously specified by customer, and develops and directs the testing of new product prototypes to verify product reliability.
  9. Assists with the set up of prototype equipment and uses experimental materials to test theories developed.
  10. Maintains internal contact with production personnel regarding ideas, drawings, and products, as well as external contact with customers and vendors in the development of designs, to resolve problems and to provide prototypes.
  11. Works with plant quality control and customer's quality department to test out theories or findings.
  12. Writes detailed instructions to indicate how a product is to be manufactured.
  13. Drafts and designs product tooling, including work aids, as needed.
  14. Attends seminars, trade shows and other manufacturing facilities when required.

Here is what you will need to qualify…
  • 4 year degree in textile design, engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Industrial sewing experience or educational equivalent.
  • Ability to relocate for the company.

  1. Textile/soft goods design and creative problem solving skills.
  2. Able to operate computer design software for pattern making.
  3. Proactive.
  4. Highly organized.
  5. Willingness to work extended hours as needed and possess the ability to see a project through to completion.
  6. Strong team player who interacts well with others.
  7. Performs visual work on the computer for long periods of time.
  8. Ability to read, write and communicate 100% of the time via phone, e-mail or in person to internal and external customers.
  9. Moves frequently about the facility walking, bending, climbing and reaching.
  10. Able to remain in a stationary position standing or sitting 50% of the time.
  11. Occasionally lifts/and or carries objects about the facility up to 35 lbs. or with the proper equipment.
