Reporting Relationship:

Primary Accountabilities:

The Category Space & Chain Account Manager at Strathman Sales Company plays a pivotal role in driving strategic growth, operational excellence, and community engagement. This multifaceted position oversees product assortment and shelf space optimization across retail accounts, manages key chain relationships to ensure alignment with sales goals and promotional strategies, and develops training programs to enhance team performance and regulatory compliance. Additionally, the role leads corporate social responsibility initiatives, promoting responsible consumption, sustainability practices, and local community support in alignment with the distributor’s brand values and industry standards.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

     Shelf Space Management
  • Tracks and measures space (AB & Total Company).
  • Executes chain resets.
  • Uses IRIS to update shelf sets and to track and measure total AB space and brand space.
  • Verifies chain sets.
  • Schedules reset dates.
  • Communicates Adds/Deletes for upcoming sets.
  • Assists Team Leads and Sales Representatives with new product placement (suggested planograms).
  • Follows-up on items not brought in and ensures 100% execution.
  • Makes account calls.
  • Identifies slow movers double facings.
  • Potential shelf additions.
  • Looks for space.
  • Space to sales.
  • Asks for resets
  • Builds proposed sets for consideration, sell in sets.
     Chain Account Management
  • Works between Key Account Manager, Team Lead and Sales Representative to execute brewery initiatives.
  • Relays information from Key Account Manager through emails, team meetings and phone calls.
  • Assists with execution in trade when needed.
  • Meets with local chain managers as well as national chain managers quarterly or more as needed and asking for sets, space, POS, specials, new product placement and cooler placements (Kwik Shop, Caseys, Dillons, Walmart, Hy-Vee, Haag Oil, Dollar General, Walmart).
  • Assists NA Manager with execution of NA placement and relaying information to Team Leads and Sales Representatives and attends NA zoom calls when needed.
     General Training Administrator
  • Tracks and reports BrewU progress for all required positions.
  • Assigns education (certifications, CDL, new in position curriculum).
  • Attends Zoom meetings for BrewU every other week or as scheduled.
     Corporate Social Responsibility Manager
  • Organizes Get Down and Get Dirty event (Keep America Beautiful).
  • Orders driver’s license guides.
  • Orders CSR materials.
  • Tracks responsibility days, utilizing POS, execution in market.
  • Ride Withs, surveys to help Team Leader with their responsibilities.
  • Trains Craft/NA Manager for a backup role as Category Space Manager.
  • Assists with special events.
Skills and Experience Required:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least five (5) years of beer distributor sales experience is preferred.
  • Strong computer and word processing skills, in particular Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access.
  • General understanding and use of selling and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally through both verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to travel to assigned call points, as required.
  • Effective time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of Strathman.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence others across all levels of Strathman.
  • Demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations.
  • Strong financial knowledge and Strathman business acumen.
Physical Demands:
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving heavy objects up to 170 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, standing or sitting.
  • Ability to read computer screens for extended period.
Work Environment:
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Interaction with staff and clients.
