Description:
HF Rubber Machinery, Inc., a subsidiary of the HF Mixing Group, is the global leader in the manufacturing of rubber and plastic processing equipment. HFRM, based in Topeka, Kansas is looking for a Purchasing Agent. The Purchasing Agent maintains operations by purchasing materials, equipment, and supplies through negotiations with approved vendors. The ideal candidate will have strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills, a positive and professional image, ability to work with all levels of employees, excellent organizational skills and be a self-starter with a high degree of self-motivation and initiative.

Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to:
- Determine purchasing requirements by reviewing inventories and purchase requests.
- Determines specifications by analyzing use requirement and consulting with users.
- Identifies suppliers by researching materials, equipment, and availability of supplies; evaluating alternatives; verifying supplier performance record and certification.
- Obtains quotes by forwarding requirements to supplier.
- Places orders by negotiating price, terms, and delivery.
- Ensures materials, equipment and supplies availability by tracking and expediting delivery.
- Resolves discrepancies by comparing purchase order to delivery documentation and obtaining credits and refunds as determined necessary.
- Maintains historical records by filing and retrieving purchasing documents.
- Improves quality results by analyzing materials, equipment, supplies and supplier reliability and recommends changes as determined necessary.
- Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
- Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED is required; some post-secondary education or training is preferred.
- SAP user management experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate, present information and answer questions clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers.
- Ability to analyze data or information by identifying the underlying principles, reasons or facts of information and using logic to address work-related issues and problems.
- Ability to organize, multi-task, plan, set priorities and exercise good judgment in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of HFRM.
- Demonstrate poise, tact, and diplomacy with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations.
Physical Demands:
- Sit for extended periods of time.
- Read computer screens, email and talk on the phone.
- Ability to unpack and move supplies up to fifty (50) pounds.
Work Environment:
- Professional and deadline-oriented environment.
- Interaction with staff and customers.
- Limited exposure to manufacturing environment which includes extreme heat in the summer and cold in the winter, dust and exposure to moving mechanical parts.
